English Education

The English teacher is a teacher from Juneau, Alaska, USA. We have had a cultural exchange with the Juneau School District for over 25 years. Teachers from Juneau live in Nishiokoppe for 1 to 2 years.

English education is offered at three levels in Nishiokoppe: elementary, Junior High School, and adult.

-Elementary: Students have between 10-50 English classes each school year.
-Junior High School: Students study English as an academic course with a Japanese teacher who is certified in teaching English. The visiting teacher helps in these English lessons, providing a model of native pronunciation and acting as a resource to explain difficult vocabulary or grammar.
-Adult English Conversation Class: The teacher leads an English conversation class for adults once a week, attended by residents of Nishiokoppe and neighboring towns. The visiting teacher also has many informal conversations with people, helping them maintain or improve their knowledge of English.

DATE:EVERY MONDAY 7:00pm-8:30pm at RIMU Hotel Lobby

The English Teacher may also teach cooking, crafts or music workshops.

Cooking class happens three or four times a year. The teacher shares recipes from home and we share a meal together.

The teacher also enjoys the many cultural events in Nishiokoppe.
